As we searched for a doula, I knew that I wanted someone who would help support us with humor, groundedness and a wide array of knowledge. It was also important that we could find someone with whom we would click and feel comfortable fairly quickly, as it felt like birth was fast approaching!
I had no idea what a doula really was one year ago. I met Emily when I did yoga teacher training; Emily was one of the lead instructors. She mentioned she was a doula and I asked her more about it knowing I wanted to start a family soon. I was intrigued and knew immediately I wanted to work with her.
Gosh, where do I even begin to descibe the joy it was to have Emily as part of our birth team?! Our firstborn came earthside on March 9, 2021. Being our first born, everything initially felt foreign and overwhelming. But then Emily joined our team. My husband and I immediately felt a shift.
