I chose to birth at a birthing center instead of a hospital this time around, so no epidural. When asked if I would be having a doula attend and help with the birth, I wasn’t sure it was something I wanted or needed. I figured it would be fine to only have my husband there and he could help me through it all.
Hailey was instrumental in the birth of my son. She provided encouragement through my two weeks of prodromal labor. She arrived promptly in the early morning when I went into active lever. Through intense back labor, she provided contact pressure and emotional support.
My labor was fast and furious and my doctor couldn’t make it in time. I was SO glad I had Hailey with me as she was the only person in the room I had said more than 5 words to! Her experience and knowledge brought me confidence and peace that I wouldn’t have had amongst a room full of strangers.
