After having my child preterm, the hospital miserably failed me in the lactation department. Since I didn’t have the third trimester to prepare by purchasing a pump or receiving a proper education, the hospital’s lactation staff did me no favors.
I have three children and gave up breastfeeding with my first two because I knew nothing of lactation consultants, tongue ties, etc. I thought breastfeeding was supposed to be this magical experience. I couldn’t understand why I had razor blade sensation pain each time I tried to nurse my children.
