Attunement is the word that comes most to mind when I reflect on Niki’s presence in our birth story. In moments that are now dreamlike and hazy in my memory, what remains clear is the strength, groundedness, confidence, and calm that Niki brought.
To be perfectly honest, before my wife got pregnant with our first child, the bulk of my "understanding" of birth came from pop culture. Apparently that's pretty common. Someone outta do something about that, but I digress.
I can’t imagine my pregnancy journey, my birth experience, or my postpartum recovery without Niki’s knowledge, wisdom, and expertise. When I found out I was pregnant, I knew absolutely nothing about pregnancy or birth. I felt overwhelmed with options and information and didn’t know where to start.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Niki for both of my births. She is an incredible doula and I can’t imagine going through either experience without her. She is extremely knowledgeable and her education leading up to birth was very helpful and reassuring.
